Wet blasting for boat bottoms, steel, wood and masonry. From the shop at 25 Dundas St W, or on site with the mobile unit.
Get a Free QuoteDry sandblasting throws a cloud and can heat thin metal enough to warp it. Dustless wet blasting mixes water with the abrasive. The water holds the dust down, so a job in the boat yard only needs simple containment, and other work can keep going beside it.
The same water keeps the surface cooler. That is why fiberglass, aluminum and thin steel can be stripped without cooking the substrate. Belleville Blasting Co. runs recycled glass and other abrasives, and contains the media as it falls.
This is the work that belongs next to a boat yard. Layers of antifouling, tired barrier coats and failing topside paint come off without grinding into the laminate. Pressure and media are set for the surface, so a fiberglass hull keeps its gelcoat. Steel hulls, keels, trim tabs, outdrives and pontoon logs are stripped the same way.
If the hull has osmotic blisters, blasting opens them and clears the damaged gelcoat so the laminate can dry before it is repaired and barrier-coated.
The shop can carry the job through to a new coating: primers, barrier coats and antifouling from Interlux, Awlgrip and 3M, plus PropSpeed on running gear. Boats sit in the 7,000 sq ft heated shop or the outdoor booth at 25 Dundas Street West, or the mobile unit meets the boat at your marina.

Paint, filler, undercoating and rust off bodies, frames, panels and wheels. The water keeps thin sheet metal from warping.
Boat trailers, utility trailers, farm machinery and construction equipment, blasted to clean steel and ready for a coating that stands up to road salt.
Paint, soot, stains and grime off brick, stone and concrete. Pressure is eased off for softer brick and mortar.
Rust, scale and failing paint off docks, shore walls, pilings and railings, blasted and recoated on the waterfront.
Old stain and grey, weathered wood off log homes, cottages, decks and wooden docks, so a new stain can soak in.
Graffiti, overspray and unwanted paint off brick, concrete, stone and steel. The mobile unit is built for a fast call-out.
Primers, epoxies, polyurethane and antifouling for fiberglass, steel, aluminum and concrete, on a surface blasting has left ready to bond.
The heated shop and indoor blast booth take what can be hauled in. The blasting rig goes to jobs that cannot.
Belleville Blasting Co. is a new name on an old yard. The experience comes from four generations in the marine trade. Crate’s has been at it since 1930, and this company is a division of Crate Marine Belleville.
7,000 sq ft of heated indoor space and an outdoor booth at 25 Dundas Street West, Belleville. Boats and smaller jobs come here. Everything else meets the mobile unit.
Water suppresses the dust, and the media is contained as it lands. That is what makes blasting practical beside other boats, and inside a building when the job calls for it.
Blasting is the prep. The same crew applies primers, epoxies, polyurethane and antifouling, including Interlux, Awlgrip, 3M, West System and PropSpeed.

Water is mixed with the abrasive, so the dust stays down and a job only needs simple containment. The water also keeps the surface cooler, which matters on thin metal and fiberglass. Dry blasting does neither.
No. Pressure and media are set for the surface. On fiberglass the coating comes off and the gelcoat or laminate is left intact. If the hull has osmotic blisters, blasting opens them so the laminate can dry before a barrier coat goes on.
Not always. Boats and smaller pieces can come to the 7,000 sq ft heated shop and outdoor booth at 25 Dundas Street West. Docks, shore walls, cottages and anything that cannot be moved are done with the mobile blasting unit.
